5 benefits of keeping your word

This morning I didn't want to go for my ocean swim at all. The weather has shifted; it feels like autumn, and the approach of winter makes the sea seem less inviting.

But I went. 2000 meters, just as it was scheduled on my training calendar.

Here are five benefits of doing what you commit to:

Self-Respect: When you commit to yourself and follow through, you show that your word matters. You build self-trust and the ability to keep your commitments.

Building Discipline: It reinforces the habit of getting things done, even when motivation is lacking.

Sense of Accomplishment: Completing your commitments will boost your self-esteem and motivation.

Enhanced Resilience: You learn to push through challenges and difficulties.

Keeping Coach Off Your Back: And perhaps most importantly, you avoid having your coach give you a hard time for not completing your weekly homework.
