The real performance killer
…and it’s not your mindset.
Hello there,
I’m currently in the middle of the Southern Ocean.
And I can’t log into any of my bank accounts.
Not because I forgot my passwords.
Not because I don’t have internet.
But because I can’t receive the magical verification codes they insist on texting to a number that hasn’t worked since I left the country.
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I don’t get angry often.
But nothing tests my patience like a broken system, especially a digital one.
Before diving into coaching and performance work, I spent time as a product owner.
And if there’s one thing I learned from that world, it’s this: when systems break, people suffer.
And most of the time, those systems were never designed with the real end user in mind.
We talk a lot about personal systems, habits, routines, decision-making.
But we rarely talk about the external systems we depend on just to function.
Here’s what I’m realizing:
It doesn’t matter how resilient or high-performing you are, If the systems around you are broken, you’re going to burn out trying to compensate.
That’s the hidden cost no one talks about.
It’s not just the time you lose.
It’s the mental bandwidth.
The frustration.
The energy leak that slowly drains you dry.
And here's the irony...
You’d think that by now, with everyone working remotely and half the world living out of their inbox, big corporations would’ve figured this out.
But the systems they build are often made for their processes, not for people.
Not for flexibility.
Not for performance.
And I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of systems that punish people for not living a “default” lifestyle.
So here’s my challenge to you:
Look at your world, your business, your tools, your workflows.
What systems are quietly killing your energy?
Where are you tolerating unnecessary friction?
Where could you upgrade, delegate, or delete?
Because real performance isn’t just about pushing harder.
It’s about removing every obstacle that makes the work heavier than it needs to be.
Thanks for reading 🖤,
Aitana
